Entry at 11+ and 13+
Application forms 11+ and 13+ Application Forms for 2017 entry are now available.
The examination for 11+ and 13+ will take place on Saturday 8 October 2016. The vast majority of boys enter the school at 11+, although there are a few places - on average between three and five - for entry at 13+. Each year, we have about 125 places available at 11+.
The examination consists of three elements: a one-hour paper in Mathematics, a one-hour paper in English and a one-hour paper in Verbal Reasoning. The Mathematics and English papers are set by the School specifically for the purpose. The Mathematics paper is in three sections, starting at quite an elementary level and becoming progressively more complex. The English paper has a comprehension and the opportunity for continuous writing.
The school report is also an integral part of the process of selection and the School gives considerable weight to a candidate's non-academic achievements and activities. A large number of interviews are also conducted of candidates for Assisted Places and Scholarships and of border-line candidates.
To register your son for 2017 entry please complete and return the Application Form. Please request a prospectus and an Application Pack will also be sent.
On registration an advice sheet about the 11+ examination and some sample questions will be supplied. There are also 11+ sample questions on the website. A 13+ Advice sheet will be sent out but sample questions are not available.
For 11+ entry in September 2017 candidates should have been born between 1 September 2005 and 31 August 2006
For 13+ entry in September 2017 candidates should have been born between 1 September 2003 and 31 August 2004
Occasionally an application from a boy below the age limit may be accepted; in these cases, if a place is not offered, an application would not normally be accepted when he reaches the appropriate age. Boys who are above the age limit are only accepted for registration in exceptional circumstances.
Please contact Mrs Phillips, Director of Admissions, if your son is unable to sit the exam on the given date.
