Archery is a popular and busy craft that is practised by boys of all ages. We only use wooden longbows and wooden arrows, rather than modern equipment, and we shoot at traditional targets. Archery is open to all and about four practices take place each week with about sixty pupils from KES and KEHS participating. Any member of the school may take part and a senior archery option operates as part of the games system. We mostly shoot outdoors throughout the year.
By concentrating on the medieval longbow, the simplest and most demanding of all types we practise and develop the techniques that are essential for any good archer. Some archers go on to join the Living History Group and take part in public displays locally and across the country in front of large and enthusiastic audiences.
