KES Summer School
On 9, 10, 13, 14 and 15 July, 2015, King Edward's School, in association with the Mac Bevan Charitable Trust, organised the inaugural King Edward's Summer School. This brought 90 gifted Year 5 children from disadvantaged backgrounds into the school for a week of activities, focusing on Reading, Writing, Maths, History and Practical Science. Each child was allocated to one of sixteen mentors, and we hope that these relationships will support children in maintaining their focus over the summer break.
See the programme and a sample report from one of the children attached below. We also ran a similarly successful Summer School in July 2016.
