Independent School Awards 2010 - KES is short-listed

06 October 2010

King Edward\'s School has been short-listed for the prestigious Independent School Awards 2010 in recognition of its new Assisted Places Fund initiative, which was launched this summer. The school, which has been entered in the category of Outstanding Fundraising Initiative along with Beachborough School and Portsmouth Grammar School, has been selected for its innovative approach to fundraising, particularly linking the funding of individual boys to individual donors (at present, nine Old Edwardians are funding 21 boys through the school). The Independent School Awards recognise excellence in the strategic and financial management of independent schools in the UK and are supported by a range of business organisations including TUI Education Division, the Charities Aid Foundation and Coutts Bank. Other categories for the awards include Outstanding Strategic Initiative, Outstanding Financial/Commercial Initiative, Outstanding Community/Public Benefit Initiative, and Best Independent/Maintained School Collaboration. The Awards Ceremony for all five categories will take place at the Oxford Belfry on 11 November. Winning schools will receive a trophy and will be short-listed for the overall ‘Independent School of the Year\' award, which will be decided on the evening.
