Choral and Orchestral Concert

07 May 2010

Very few people would be describe themselves as feeling \"uplifted\" on a drizzly March afternoon in Birmingham. But the lucky five hundred who packed into the Adrian Boult Hall to watch the KES Choral and Orchestral concert on 21sst March were an exception to this rule. The KES Choir, made up of around eighty keen musical boys from across the school, created a movingly sombre atmosphere performing the difficult Fauré Requiem beautifully, with Oliver Beardmore (Shell) melting hearts with his beautiful solo. The Symphony Orchestra accompanied Susanna Quirke\'s (KEHS) performance of the celebrated Bruch Violin Concerto superbly and went on to perform Rachmaninoff\'s Symphony II, without doubt one of the most beautiful symphonies of all time. Mikey East\'s (Division) clarinet solo in the third movement held the audience captivated. Those lucky enough to attend once again left amazed at the skill and professionalism of such young musicians.
