The Heat is On At Young Engineers\' For Britain Awards
03 July 2009
Three boys from KES had the opportunity to show off their A Level Design and Technology projects at the Midlands Regional Final of the Young Engineers\' for Britain Award held at Rockingham Speedway. James Buckley presented his GPS Tracking System for Duke of Edinburgh Expedition Leaders, Aaron Freeman-Powell presented his Data Retrieving System for home made rockets and Josh White presented his Programmable LED and Halogen Lighting System. Amongst stiff competition from other schools across the region all three boys impressed the judges with their knowledge, enthusiasm and excellent projects. At the end of a tough and very hot June day James was delighted to receive the award for the ‘best electronics project\' as well as the Senior Nomination for the National Final to be held next March. James won £200 for his efforts. Aaron was also delighted to receive the award for the ‘best manufactured project\' winning £100. Both Aaron and Josh were also recommended to submit personal nominations for the National Final after the senior judge praised the quality of their work and hopefully they will be accompanying James in March. The Young Engineers\' for Britain Award is the most prestigious event in the Design and Technology Calendar and celebrates and recognises the fantastic Design and Technology work that students produce in schools across the country.
