10 May 2010

The school’s water polo team became Under 18 national champions for the second time in three years on Saturday 8th May at Walsall, beating Manchester Grammar School in a penalty shoot-out 3-1, after a 3-3 draw in normal time. In the final, Andrew Macarthur scored all three of King Edward’s goals.

In the group stages, King Edward’s lost to Manchester GS 5-4, but beat Charterhouse 7-3 and in the semi-finals they beat City of London School 5-4. For several of the boys, this was their third national title since the school’s Under 16 team were national champions in 2009. One of those players, Morgan Hirsch is the captain of the Great Britain Under 17 team.
