Lewis, Ivo Frank

Ivo Frank Lewis, born on 13th February 1885, was admitted to King Edward’s School in 1896. His father was a jeweller, and the family lived at 186, Birchfield Road, Perry Bar.

At School, Ivo was an impressive student. In 1900, he won a Foundation Scholarship, and was third overall in Mr Heath’s class, performing especially well in German. He also won the School landscape photograph competition in 1901. After School, he became a jeweller like his father. He married Sarah Jane and lived on Birchfield Road.

In 1915, Ivo enlisted as a Private Soldier in the 17th Royal Warwickshire Regiment. He was declared wounded and missing, presumed killed, at Ypres on 9th October 1917, aged thirty-two. He is commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial, and he left his estate of £2,160 to his wife Sarah.
