Military Cross (Apr. 22, 1918).

During a reconnaissance his party was suddenly fired on by the enemy, and one of his men was found to be missing. He at once returned and found the man lying wounded close to the enemy’s position. He reached the man under fire from the enemy, and was severely wounded in doing so. He showed the greatest courage and self-sacrifice.
