hadow, e. c. r.
Captain, Royal Field Artillery, Territorial Force, Divisional Trench Mortar Officer, 41st Division
Military Cross (Feb. 1, 1919).
For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty on Sept. 23, 1918, near Pilkem. While reconnoitring positions for trench-mortar batteries close to the front line, the officer with him was hit by machine-gun fire, which was continuous in the area. In spite of this, after careful reconnaissance, he got up the mortars and ammunition by night. He set a fine example under constant shell and machine-gun fire.
