Distinguished Service Order (Feb. 1, 1919).
At Le Fôret and St. Pierre Vaast Wood, August 30 and September 2, 1918, this officer led his company in the attack, and succeeded in capturing the objective and 60 prisoners, seven machine guns and two 77 mm. guns. When the position on Hill 150, near Raucourt, was obscure, he went forward several times under very heavy shell and machine-gun fire to clear up the situation. Throughout the operations he displayed great courage and ability.
