Captain, Royal Warwickshire Regiment, Territorial Force, and Royal Flying Corps.

Military Cross (July 1, 1917).

At about 2 a.m. two airships came a short distance inland, one crossing the East Anglian coast… made an attack on a coast town of East Anglia at about 2.30 a.m. She was heavily shelled by the guns of the anti-aircraft defences, and was driven off… Shortly afterwards this raider, after dropping a number of bombs in open places, was engaged and brought down in flames by a pilot of the Royal Flying Corps. The airship was destroyed. No casualties or damage were caused in East Anglia.
