CPD for primary school teachers
Each year we host continuing professional development (CPD) training courses for primary school teachers. The types of courses offered include support for changes in curriculum, requests for help from primary schools on a particular issue, and development of teaching techniques.
Previous topics covered range from Mastery in Writing, delivered by the Educational Development Trust, which was designed to reflect the new National Curriculum and Assessment without Levels; workshops run by the Ogden Trust to support the teaching of science in primary classrooms; and techniques for teaching Shakespeare in association with the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust. We also offer professional development courses for primary school teachers on how to coach young children in sports such as netball or cricket.
The CPD courses have been well-received and we have accommodated almost 200 teachers from over 90 primary schools on the most popular courses. A small cost is applicable for the CPD courses to cover the cost of the training.
Primary school hockey
Director of Hockey at KES, Andrew Langlands, is running a hockey CPD course for primary teachers on Wednesday, 10 June 2020 10am-3pm at our Southall Pavilion. Andrew is a former England ‘A’ team hockey professional and more recently England over 35’s. He is experienced in delivering hockey CPD to primary schools across the Midlands.
The course will cover core skills practice, small games, coaching skills and game play focusing on tactics and umpiring. The cost of the course is £40, which includes refreshments and lunch. To book, please complete the registration form.
We are offering a half day e-safety in primary schools CPD session on Tuesday, 23 June 2020 9am-12.30pm at our Ruddock Performing Arts Centre. This seminar is aimed at anyone who has a responsibility for or interest in e-safety in the primary setting. We hope to provide delegates with the chance to enhance their e-safety knowledge as well as share best practice and experience between schools.
All delegates will receive a USB stick packed with material for management and teaching related to e-safety, including policies, sample presentations, teaching resources, lesson plans and videos.
Prior to the seminar we’ll ask you to complete a short anonymous survey which provides a useful picture of our shared problems. Results will be included in the presentation on the day. The first half of the seminar will be a presentation on the latest issues, we will then break into smaller groups to discuss common issues and strategies for dealing with them. We all face the same problems and in our experience the conversation is valuable.
The session will cost £30, which covers resources and refreshments. To book, please complete the registration form.
