CPD for primary school teachers
Each year we host continuing professional development (CPD) training courses for primary school teachers. The types of courses offered include support for changes in curriculum, requests for help from primary schools on a particular issue, and development of teaching techniques.
Previous topics covered range from Mastery in Writing, delivered by the Educational Development Trust, which was designed to reflect the new National Curriculum and Assessment without Levels; workshops run by the Ogden Trust to support the teaching of science in primary classrooms; and techniques for teaching Shakespeare in association with the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust. We also offer professional development courses for primary school teachers on how to coach young children in sports such as netball or cricket.
The CPD courses have been well-received and we have accommodated almost 200 teachers from over 90 primary schools on the most popular courses. A small cost is applicable for the CPD courses to cover the cost of the training.
