The best way of looking after the boys’ wellbeing is by educating and promoting a healthy lifestyle and mindset. The incredible range of sports, activities, music and drama options, and the thriving House system means every boy can find their niche, like-minded peers, and additional support through friendships.
Mindfulness involves learning to direct our attention to our experience as it unfolds, rather than worrying about what has or might happen, and helps children to learn more clearly, perform better, think calmer and feel less anxious and depressed. Boys are introduced to mindfulness as part of the Year 8 curriculum and over 50 boys from Year 8 and 9 have elected to study the full .b mindfulness curriculum.
The promotion of good mental health continues as boys progress through the School. Boys in Year 9 and 12 learn techniques to stay mentally health, which are revisited at regular intervals throughout the School.
On top of the broad range of curricular and co-curricular activities that support boys’ physical and mental wellbeing, an introduction to yoga is part of the Lower School curriculum. For those boys who wish to continue with yoga, there is an after-school club, which is open to all.
