KES rugby players shine in regional and national arenas

In an exciting season for rugby, four standout players from the King Edward's School 1st XV, have made waves in both the Midlands West Academy U18 squad and England Lambs.

The duo, Fintan Dowling and Robin Jorden, showcased their skills in challenging encounters against opponents such as Midlands Central, Northampton Saints, and Newcastle Falcons.

Looking forward, the Midlands West Academy squad is gearing up for pivotal fixtures against Leicester Tigers and the much-anticipated League Finals Day, promising an exciting showcase of talent and determination.

In other rugby news, Henry Trevis and Tobias Ishaque, both integral members of the KES 1st XV, have earned a coveted spot in the National Lambs squad for the 23/24 season. England Lambs, a national “barbarians” invitational representative squad endorsed by England Rugby, provides a platform for players not on the professional academy pathway. Harry and Tobias recently secured a thrilling victory against Ealing Trailfinders Academy with a narrow 41-40 scoreline, highlighting their competitiveness at the national level.

The peak of their journey with the Lambs squad is the Summer 24 tour to South Africa. Trevis and Ishaque, shaped by their time in the England Lambs setup, are gearing up to proudly represent their school and country, showcasing the international skills they’ve developed through their training and matches.

Mr Adams, Director of Rugby at King Edward’s School said: To have our students gaining such credible representative honours this season is a fantastic achievement and as a school one that we are incredibly proud of. We hope that the significance of these honours will inspire our younger students to progress through their own rugby journeys here at KES“.
