Career resources

A Careers Event at King Edward’s School, Birmingham on Wednesday 28 June 2023.

As a parent, you want to help your child make the best possible choices for their future.

One of the most important decisions your son will make is about his career. Explore our career resources to help you support your child in making informed decisions about his future.

The school provides all students with access to their own account on Unifrog. This is a fantastic resource for supporting students with their careers questions: learning about different jobs and sectors, labour market information, and the various pathways available, including Degree Apprenticeships and Gap Year experiences.

Through Unifrog students can develop better awareness of their own personality, skills and interests. They can also learn about myriad career opportunities as well as all of the courses offered by universities and higher education providers in the UK, Europe, the US and globally. There are also webinars, MOOCs (online courses), podcasts, virtual events and special opportunities for them to apply for and take part in.

Unifrog will capture a student’s ongoing careers research, activities, work experience, skills used and will store any favourites added. Students can log in to their Unifrog account from home and share it with parents.

In Year 11 Student Work Experience Placements are logged on Unifrog with employers, parents and students able to exchange and check Health and Safety and other placement details such as dress-code, arrival times and daily schedule. Unifrog will also capture individual feedback from the work experience provider.

Springpod includes access to virtual work experience and ‘spotlights’ into academic subjects. Registration is free.

Prospects is for university students, but it is a great resource for all young people wanting to learn about graduate jobs, postgraduate study, advice about work experience, internship opportunities and graduate careers. This resource also contains helpful job profiles for thousands of job roles.

Please note, resources and opportunities are posted on your child’s year group Google Classrooms. In addition, parents of Middle and Upper School students are emailed Career Resources Updates twice a year.

We benefit enormously from having links with parents, employers and higher education institutions.

We are always looking for work experience placements, shadowing, industry visits, mentoring advice and visiting speakers.

If you, or your employer, can offer any careers support to our students, please email: careers@kes.org.uk.
