CCF Annual General Inspection

The KES CCF once again celebrated the work that cadets and staff have enjoyed over the last 12 months.
We were delighted to host Group Captain Ian Sargeant, Deputy Lord Lieutenant, as our Inspecting Officer this year along with Major Howard Smith, Commander Jon Shorrocks, Sub Lieutenant Olivia Morris and former KES Contingent Commander Duncan Raynor. We were very fortunate to also be able to welcome back OEs and former CCF cadets; Captain Jack Thompson, Sub Lieutenant Zain Aslam and Officer Cadet James Moore.
After the Parade and Inspection, the attending dignitaries, guests and parents were entertained with displays from the RAF RAST Team, Contingent Corp of Drums and Army Field Gun Team before each Section then showcased their skills and learning with activities spread around the school site all building towards the  Inter Section Field Gun Competition which this year was won by the RAF Section.
The evening concluded with the the presentation of awards in the Ruddock Hall where the Contingent recognised the exceptional work of our cadets and those who have stood out as embodiying the core values of the CCF. The final awards of the night were the Knight Memorial Medals which are awarded to the Senior NCOs who have exemplified the ideals listed on the certificate they received from the endowment of the parents of Flying Officer Dennis Knight who was a cadet at KES and lost his life flying a Hurricane defending the Island of Malta in World War II. This year the Knight Memorial Medals were awarded to: Clr Sgt Sam Chan of the Army Section, PO William Stead in the Navy Section and Flt Sgt Aadi Kotecha in the RAF.
