Strong GCSE results reflect breadth and depth of learning at KES

King Edward’s School is thrilled to announce another year of excellent GCSE results, showcasing our pupils’ hard work, ambition and breadth of achievement.

Headline results for 2025 are:

  • 9s: 42%
  • 9/8s: 67%
  • 9-7s: 84%

Of the cohort of 129 pupils, 91% took at least 10 GCSEs. Three pupils achieved 11 straight 9s and one achieved 10 straight 9s.

Mrs Kirsty von Malaisé, Chief Master & Principal of King Edward’s School (KES) and King Edward VI High School for Girls (KEHS), said: “Our pupils’ GCSE results this year highlight fantastic achievements across a diverse range of subjects. These impressive results attest to the hard work and ambition of our pupils, supported by our committed teachers. The boys’ achievements at GCSE, alongside their many personal successes beyond the classroom, provide a strong foundation for their future in the Sixth Form.

“One of the distinctive qualities of a King Edward’s education is the breadth of experience that our pupils have access to. Thirty-six of our pupils, which is more than a quarter of the cohort, studied Latin, Greek or both classical subjects to GCSE, adding much to the intellectual vitality of King Edward’s. The co-existence of such subjects alongside others such as Drama, about which we are passionate advocates for boys’ participation, a range of modern foreign languages – French, German and Spanish at KES, the unrivalled co-curricular programme on offer to all boys and the careful attention to the flourishing of each individual, is a source of great pride. We wish our Fifth Form every success as they move on to their A Level studies.”
