ICT

ICT is used actively in each academic subject and the school is superbly equipped with ICT resources.

As ICT is used in all subjects where appropriate, computing is only studied as a separate subject in Year 7 and Year 8. The computing curriculum has a heavy focus on coding, including App Inventor and HTML in Year 7 and Python and Javascript in Year 8.

To enhance learning there are interactive whiteboards in all classrooms and 600 computers with leading software available for use. Five classrooms are equipped with class-sets of computers: two general-purpose computer rooms used by all departments, a language laboratory, a science laboratory, and a music technology room. The Library is fitted with clusters of computers and has an electronic catalogue; computer clusters are also heavily used in the geography and design and technology departments.

All pupils receive annual e-Safety education. In addition we adapt to developments, for example AI software such as ChatGPT for which guidance will be provided in our academic honesty policy.
