Ambika Solanki is an Associate Professor in Accounting at the University of Birmingham Business School and currently serves as Programme Director for the MSc Accounting and Finance. She is a teaching-focused academic leader and Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA), with extensive experience in curriculum design, quality assurance, and student development.
Before entering academia, Ambika spent 13 years at KPMG, where she qualified as a Chartered Accountant (FCA) and worked extensively in audit and professional practice, including leadership roles supporting international clients. Her professional background brings strong commercial insight, governance expertise, and financial oversight to her work in education.
At the University of Birmingham, Ambika leads large, diverse programmes, works closely with industry and professional bodies, and is actively involved in widening participation, equality and inclusion initiatives, and student employability. She is passionate about bridging education and practice, and supporting young people to develop confidence, resilience, and ambition.
