KES hosts first online Founder’s Day ceremony

To celebrate the achievements of pupils, King Edward’s School held its first online Founder’s Day ceremony on Wednesday, 14 October 2020.

The annual ceremony, which usually takes place in Big School, featured a welcome from the Chief Master, Dr Katy Ricks, the notification of prizes read out by Mr Graham Watson, Director of Outreach and Academic Operations, a vote of thanks from the School Captain, Jimmy, and even a rendition of the school song.

Guest speaker, Mayor of the West Midlands and former pupil, Andy Street CBE, spoke about his time at KES and the importance of social mobility and the Assisted Places Scheme, which ensures the school can provide education for able boys, regardless of the financial circumstances of their families.

Congratulations to all of our prize-winners!
