The month was filled with meaningful events and activities, all aimed at deepening our understanding of Black culture and history while empowering students to share diverse perspectives.
Joint talk: Islamic Influences in African and Caribbean Culture
A highlight of the month was a thought-provoking talk hosted by the African-Caribbean Society (ACS) and Islamic Society. This collaborative event explored the profound and often overlooked Islamic influences in African and Caribbean culture, sparking engaging discussions among students and staff alike.
Pupil Led Assemblies
Throughout the month, ACS members Panashe, Ayanna and Malaika delivered inspiring assemblies across KES and KEHS.
Their engaging presentations brought the theme of “Reclaiming the Narrative” to life, offering fresh perspectives and encouraging the school community to reflect on the importance of representation and storytelling in shaping history.
Taught in Lessons
The celebration extended into the classroom with ACS-inspired lessons across various subjects, integrating Black culture and history into the curriculum.
ACS Bake Sale
To conclude the celebrations, a bake sale raised an impressive £124 for ACS chosen charity, showcasing the generosity and community spirit of our pupils and staff.
