The United Nations is working through Covid-19, so is our KES MUN.
The Coronavirus pandemic has shone a stark light on many deep-rooted issues of our society, bringing problems such as inequality, climate change and trade conflict into the common consciousness. Now, more than ever, it seems that discourse on these issues is vital to ensure we learn from the crisis and come out of it better equipped to face the new normal. The inaugural KES Model United Nations Conference (KESMUN) aims to do just that.
For those of you who are not familiar with Model United Nations, it is a simulation of the United Nation in which participants assume the role of national ambassadors or representatives to debate and seek to solve global issues. MUN facilitates learning about diplomacy, international relations and the United Nations, and provides great opportunity to improve public speaking, debating and writing skills, in addition to critical thinking, teamwork and leadership abilities.
KES has had a rich history of MUN success at conferences across the country, but for the very first time, KES in partnership with KEHS, will be hosting our own KES Model United Nations Conference in September 2020.
Whilst initially the conference was planned to be hosted on site at KES, coronavirus put a spoke in our wheel. Nonetheless, where there’s a will, there’s a way. The KESMUN team has since adapted original plans to host a virtual conference at the same time instead. We are working hard in conference preparation and are reaching out to the great talents of KES community.
