To thank and support our NHS and frontline workers involved in the fight against COVID-19, 19 pupils and two former pupils, from King Edward’s School and King Edward VI High School for Girls, performed a wonderful musical tribute of Somewhere Over the Rainbow.
The pupils used the initiative and arrangements from the Services for Education Music Service.
A former King Edward’s School pupil, who performed in the ensemble, edited the video compilation.
It was truly amazing to be surrounded by such history, dating back millennia, built as a symbol of Athenian pride that still stands today.
In our studies, the question of ‘Shylock: villain or victim?’ has often been raised, and in this adaptation, it was clear that Shylock, along with her community, were cruelly marginalised and harassed.
The day was a fantastic final celebration of the Mathematical talent that exists in our young people across the city and wider region, and we are so proud to remain key hubs for bringing such talent together – we’re already excited for next year!
Beyond sharpening my public speaking and critical thinking skills, MUN left me with incredible memories and a deep appreciation for diplomacy. It was an exhilarating experience, and I can’t wait to do it all over again!
