Islamic Society

Islamic Society welcomes everyone to join us in celebrating Ramadan through the use of this new digital platform.

We intend to have regular meetings via Google Meet every Friday lunchtime in order to continue the tradition of the Friday talk. Furthermore, we intend to host many more activities during these testing times – such as a continuation of the Tuesday talks on the Life of the Prophet, and Quran recitation sessions showcasing the abilities of some of the boys in the school – as a way to bring the community together when we need it the most, especially as it is now the Holy Month.

If you would like to be notified of any events or are already an existing member, join the Islamic Society Google Classroom by finding our code on Firefly. We hope to see you there! Ramadan Kareem.

History Society

History Society has restarted this term with a hopefully more regular schedule.

Firstly, George spoke on the first Anglo-Afghan War last Wednesday. An invasion that led to the rout of a 14,000 strong army to just one named man. Almost all future invasions of Afghanistan followed the pattern of this one.

In a fortnight we expect, with excitement, Elijah’s talk on the Trail of Tears. A tragic tale of the forced relocation of Native Indians from the Southeastern US to west of the Mississippi.

In the future, we hope for more eclectic talks based on boys’ interests, their Extended Essays and Internal Assessments.

Overall, it looks to be an interesting term for the History Society.
